Where To Take Engagement Photos in Milwaukee
Well…first— CONGRATS on finding your forever person!! What an exciting time for you both and your family and friends. One of the first things newly engaged couples think of is ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS! Questions like: “When to take engagement photos?” Or “where to take engagement photos?” Even “what to wear for engagement photos?” all start popping up on your WEDDING PLANNING TO DO LIST.
But don’t you fret! I’ve gotcha covered. I’ve photographed many couples in the Milwaukee Area and have created this post to help couples envision themselves at each location. You can get an idea of how each location photographs and see if it would be a good fit for you!
1. Pabst Rooftop
Ahhhh rooftops!! I am a sucker for a rooftop session! Milwaukee has a gorgeous skyline and you can see it all from this view. Rooftop sessions are typically more fun and laid back! Pairs great with your more casual outfit if you are doing an outfit change. We will run around, do piggy back rides, and have your hair blowing in the wind while we are up there. See more like this!
2. Lakeshore State Park
My most popular location for engagement photos is Lakeshore State Park. It truly never disappoints. You are close enough to the Milwaukee Art Museum and Discovery World to get a few pictures there if you want. Plus all the landscaping on the grounds really photographs well year round! The sun sets right behind the Hoan Bridge making Lakeshore State Park the best during golden hour! I love this location for my couples who want a city vibe with a little nature!
3. Retzer Nature Center
Retzer Nature Center is perfect for a non-city engagement session option! It is much more nature vibes with trees and trails. You’ll see more green colors in summer and more organge/yellow colors in fall. What I love most about Engagement photos at Retzer is how versatile it is. There is nice emerald green from the pine trees, so its not too bright and green like a gold course. After a little walking, you get an amazing view at the top that pairs PERFECTLY with a beautiful sunset. Not to mention an overlook of all of Waukesha.
4. Walkers Point/Third Ward
There is a special place in my heart for Walker’s Point…Soula and I took some of our engagement photos there back in 2018. Engagement photos in Walkers Point gives you that urban feel without being right in downtown. There is gorgeous cream city brick everywhere and bits on Milwaukee history around every corner. Plus, if you are having a wedding in downtown Milwaukee, it is likely we will use much of the third ward for your wedding day photos too!
5. Lion’s Den Gorge
Looking to get a little out of Milwaukee!? North of Milwaukee and along Lake Michigan, Lion’s Den Gorge has beautiful trails that lead you down to a small private, sandy beach! Its truly amazing if you and your person are up for walking. Make sure you check the weather tho… mosquitos get INSANE. Back your bug spray for sure! Engagement photos at Lions Den offers gorgeous bluff views of Lake Michigan as well as tons of greenery. If you follow the trail to the beach you get lovely golden beach vibes without the crowd of downtown Milwaukee! Its worth every step on your Apple Watch.
